Economic Development

The City of Imperial is in a period of progressive growth with a proactive attitude toward attracting and retaining businesses. The City Council has made it a priority to enrich and diversify the City's economic base by creating jobs. We are the fastest growing city in the county and now is an exciting time to be a part of Imperial. This growth is evident throughout the city - from Downtown Imperial to our newly annexed areas.
Situated in the center of the Imperial Valley, the City of Imperial is in a strategic location along Highway 86 connecting Interstate 8 with the Cities of El Centro, Imperial and Brawley. The City of Imperial is also the home of the Imperial County Airport, the Imperial Valley Expo Fairgrounds, Imperial Irrigation District headquarters, and the Border Patrol Imperial headquarters.

Progress

We are proud of what we have accomplished as a community. The City is continually expanding its infrastructure to accommodate growth, and the beautification of Downtown Imperial adds a unique character to the community. Guidelines are in place to ensure that the built environment is consistent with our cultural heritage while promoting an aesthetically pleasing community.
Opportunities for new infill development and expansion of existing properties in and around the City of Imperial offer a starting point for revitalization and continued growth.
